Home server problem

need help on my server. i have two computers at home both running on windows xp, both are connected to a smc barricade router. the desktop computer is used as my primary machine while the second computer is used as server running 24/7.

ntvdm.exe errors on program installation

Any help on the following would be greatly appreciated. I recently upgraded a system running Win95 to Win2000 Professional. The installation process appeared to work fine. The problem I am having now is that I am unable to install many different programs.

Win2K shutdown

Windows 2000 will not shutdown. I have an atx case with Abit BE6 m/b with latest bios update. Just a tnt2ultra installed. Win2K will not completely shutdown. It will write to the disk then give me a its safe to shut down screen.

I noticed when I right click> properties on C:\ it says I'm using 7. 48 gigs, but when I highlight all the files at the root of c:\(inc hidden and system files)and right clcik> properties it says 5.

Mouse Acceleration in UT!?!?

I don't know about you, but this XP mouse accel thing is getting on my nerves just a tad. I've got the latency patch, but its quite obvious that Mouse Acceleration is enabled when running UT. Is there anyway I can tell UT to disable Mouse Acceleration? Thanks.

CH-Throttle - direct access to keyboard?

Hi I read somewhere that win2k prevents any software to get direct access to keyboard and by that CH-Throttle dos programming software don't recognize it. Any way to pass this security feature? Software or tweak? Thanks in advance!.

Having problems with the T2 wheel steering in the opposite direction than its supposed to. I've tried everything to correct this with no luck. Older T2 wheel connected to gameport, Win2000 P111 800 128meg RAM.

CD AutoPlay gone away

I've had XP Pro installed for about a week and all of a sudden my CD's no longer autoplay. Both Music and software CD's provoke zero response. I don't know if it's something I've done or just a bug. Any ideas?.

GLQuake / GLQuakeWorld / GLProQuake / and other GL randered Quake 1's. well even under WinXPpro's compatibility it runs but i get a unresponive console and i can hear the demo in the background (tried resolutions 512x384x16 & 640x480x16).

hi This game installs fine on win2kpro (sp2). the simulator inside the game actually works no problem. I have even played the first mission. But. . then it crashes. I don't know why it won't work but the practice simulator will.

Maxtor 30GB HDD is slow

I got a 30GB 7200rpm maxtor drive on a promise pci ata100 controller. I benchmarked it with sisoft sandra and i got scores below ata66 (i don't remember the exact score, i believe it was around 18000.

An IT guy we occassionally hire says, because of some suspicious hard drive sounds, we should Ghost one of our mission-critical business PCs. The repair vendor we use, however, says they don't (read won't) ghost a Win2k system, they image them.
