Can't play Quake III after patching...

win2000 SP2 pIII 850 256ram DX 8. 1 voodoo 5500 PCI A fresh install works fine, but whenever I try to patch it, any point release, I just get a black screen and am forced to shutdown. This is the first clean install of 2000 I had.

Final Fantasy 8 problems With geforce

Hello everyone. I've been trying to get Final Fantasy 8 to run under Windows 2k for quite some time. However I have this problem. Under My geforce 2 MX 200 and my Newer Geforce 4 MX 440. I know the problem is consistent with both cards under the latest nvidia drivers.

Unknown error that results in blue screen on WinXP

Hi. It's been a while since I've started being victim to a very annoying serious error that makes using my PC very unreliable/unstable. I believe it's related to my Maxtor D740X 60 GB, since when I use a 4-GB HD I have instead, this bug doesn't occur.

What does SSE technology do?

Iv never been told the answer to this question or seen anybody answer it, what does the SSE technology thats built into Intel Chips and now Athlon chips too actually do. Like AMD have 3DNow+ and thats for enhanced graphics on games that support it as far as i know.

I have read through this forum several times to find a solution to my problem, sadly without success. I have recently put a fresh install of Win2k on my machine in place of a stable Win98SE. Previously both CD drives worked as expected.

I have setup 2 computers to connected via a crossover cable. My main PC an Athlon 750 has Windows XP Pro Corp along with a Linksys 10/100 USB Adapter connected to my cable modem, and a Dlink 530TX network card.

Uninstalled linux, now I cant get into XP

OK I had a dual boot with linux mandrake and XP going for a couple of days. I erased linux and its partitions and now I cant get into xp. I can onlt get as far as right after my system checks to see if it should boot from the floppy and cd.

O. K. Silly question, but. . . When I set up WinXP, and added the additional programs, I unselected MSN Explorer. As far as I can tell, it's just a cutesy front end for Hotmail and MSN's web site. Is there any advantage to installing it?.

IIS/Windows Media Encoder question

I dont know if the problem is with IIS or with my remote software for Windows Media Encoder. Anyway when i connect to my computer to try and start the encoder whenever one of the ASP pages load up i get an object not found box then nothing works right.

Sidewinder 3d pro always "not connected"

Hi I have plugged my sidewinder 3d pro on my sb live. When I click add in the game controller, and then I select Sidewinder, windows finds my sidewinder 3d pro but it always appears as not connected Any idea would be welcome.
