How can i configure Windows 2000 to lauch each new command prompt using a new instance of ntvdm. exe ? DOS apps are never stable at the best of times and it would be useful to know that when im having more than one open at a time, one crash won't bring the whole lot down! Cheers in advance.

hi all, One of my friends recently bought a TNT2 Pro, and wanted to replace it with his ATI 3D Rage pro, the isntallation went fine until it came to the part when windows XP usually boots up, but nothing happened, the screen just stays black! I checked the HDD boot order they were fine.

Hello, i have a problem with the SmartTrack logbook-software from Uwatec. It seem not to work with XP but the hotline and the helpfile says it have to run under XP. Are there some divers with the same problem and maybe solution? I testet it on 2 Systems.

Unable to unload registry file at log off on 2k

When logging off windows get to the 'saving your settings' screen and just appears to sit there for ages doing nothing. . after about a minute it completes the operation and shows the log-on screen as normal.

hey. . . . i just bought and installed a geforce2 mx400. i'm running win xp and tha latest driver from nvidia's site (28. 32). direct3d games default to 75hz (alien Vs predator 2) opengl games default to 60hz (soldier of fortune,jedi knight II,return to castle wolfenstein ) I'm new to nvidia.

When trying to access the windows update site i keep getting an error in wuv3is. dll (the windows update control file) and IE6 closes I tried all the basic things like restarting IE, clearing the cache, re-installing the update control.

hey. . a friend of mine is unable to run his xp system. a few days ago he booted his computer and xp didn't load. he got a message that the file SOFTWARE is corrupted. he didn't install any new hardware or software and the xp ran just fine the day before.

Does exist a way or some utility that would allow viewing/editing the W2K hive files in the config subdir? They are in some compressed format, are they? What is the format of the database? I want to get rid of an 'INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE' error without having to reinstall dozens of apps.

Hi. I'm having some major problems with my CD-R/RW unit, a Samsung SW-408B. It doesn't support Burn-Proof technology, but even when i have about 220 mb's of RAM free, and I do nothing else at the same time, I will get buffer underruns.
