This is a link to a thread Ive posted on another board. The first post, by me, says this: - I got the motherboard SOLTEK 75 KAV and I recently upgraded my processor from 750 DURON to AMD Palomino XP 1800+ To do that I upgraded the bios and it worked fine.

Dos Apps and 100% CPU Utilization

With any DOS App window running, when you type at keyboard, move mouse or make screen change, The CPU utilization will go to 100%. If you pause it will go back down. Just makes a workstation kind of dog, but Win 2K server really goes downhill after a few users start DOS APPs.

Deus Ex crashes - mouse accelleration is not reset

Deus Ex likes to increase the accelleration level of my mouse it seems, and if it crashes it wont set it back down. I've tried to restart em_exec. exe and change the mouse accellerations settings in mouse properties, but I cant get it back to what I had.

FAT32 or NTFS

I am getting a new hard drive (Western Digital 120GB w/8MB cache) for backup. It will be the primary slave device. Should I format it to FAT32 or NTFS? BTW, is that hard drive only sold in OEM? I can't seem to find one that is sold in retail.

cda file format

No sound is produced if I try to play Audio CDs maybe because the. CDA format is not supported. If I play MP3 and WAV file, it works just fine. I can also play VCDs without any problems. I tried to play the songs from the cd drive itself and also I've copied to cd's songs to hard drive and tried to play but no use.

Unable to finish download with download managers

well, this is a bit strange, until I had win2k everything was fine. . . but then I decided to switch to XP which is GREAT except for this 1 thing: I use Download Accelerator Plus 5, Reget, Flashget - and not one of them is able to finish downloads WHEN IT COMES TO BIG FILES (> 500 mb).

Intel Chipset Drivers for NT4 ??

I'm after the latest drivers for a Pentium II system 400mhz, Chipset 440 (i think) Plus this number 82443BX I am going to run NT4, on Intels Site i can only find Drivers for 9X!!! > So i have done some more searching and found these two sites.

VOB Instant CD - ??????????????

I've been considering switching my CD burning software from Nero to VOB InstantCD (). They recently released a new version. By chance has anyone tried this under WinXP? The features look to be great, and I've seen a couple of postings in newsgroups that it's packet-writing software is excellent.

I have a 40gb hard drive that I regretfully partitioned the following way. C: boot partition – 3. 4gb D: system partition – 3. 4gb E: 3. 4 F: 10gb G: 10gb H: 8+gb It was initially a dual boot system with 98 on C: and 2000pro on D:.

I have a small problem. When I go to Windows update it says Update was unsuccessful. I have tried everything but I can't get windows update to work. Has anyone had the same problem. If so let me know if you fixed it and what you did.

Counterstrike problems

On my system if I play counterstrike in OpenGL mode it makes the screen a small 800x600 quarter of the screen box in the upper left hand corner of my 1600x1200 desktop. . . (its not in a windowed mode, its just 1/4 of the game showing in the corner of the screen).

Quicken 2001/2002 and IE 6.0

Quicken 2001 and/or 2002 can be installed and appear to be OK but will not start claiming that I need IE 5. 5 or later. I have Win2000 and IE 6. 0. Talked to Intuit but they say it is a Win2000 problem.
