BSOD when I unplug the network cable.

I'm running windows 2000 on a Dell Optiplex GX200. Everything is fine, works great. BUT, when I unplugged the network cable i got a BSOD. I've tried several things. Wake on Lan is not on. Anything having to do with the integrated NIC is disabled.

Can you set ACLs per application rather than per user/group?

Just wondering since I use the Contig. exe util to clean up the bits that diskeeper misses and 'System Volume Information' has only SYSTEM access rights an i have to change this every time I defrag. Would be quicker if I could just give contig the access rights it needs for just that folder.

Well, looks like it's time to replace the Geforce 2MX, fan died on it and it just seems to be crapping out lately. What I want to know is how are the TV Outs on the GF3-4, ATI cards? The GF2MX was pretty crappy and wondering if it improved with the current versions.

I have lost the default web view in explorer open windows. When I open a folder or drive the left pane ins't there. The whole width is the directory. I can change it back, but I have to go through the 'customize this folder' wizard and create a html template to do it and it is only for that view.

MS could potentially at her discretion do anything to the DO version of the corp. XP, just looking at recently what it does when you hit that start menu item called 'windows update' 1. It invoke the program called wupdmgr.

Weird USB gamepad problem

This one really bugs me and it only happens in winxp. I have a USB propad 8 gamepad. As soon as i plug it in it is detected right away and runs fine for about 2 minutes. As soon as i start using it though all the sudden i hear that USB 'disconnect' sound and the pad stops working.

Possible to have a networked cd-rom?

I was wondering if it is possible to share a cd-rom drive over a network and make the computers that it is shared to see it as a true cd-rom drive. I know that you can map to the cd-rom so that it has a specified drive letter but then it is just seen as a normal networked drive.
