Hello,
I have a laptop (Windows Vista Premium installed) and tried to plug in my LAN cable. My Internet connection is LAN and does not need any IP's -- the system has to automatically acquire/obtain and IP address.
But, it doesn't do that? I tried disabling all other devices such as: D-Link, Wireless, TCP/IP v6, etc... That didn't help also.
Why can't my LAN obtain IP? By the way, my Ethernet controller is: "Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E."
If any help or advice, please respond.
Thank you,

Was Vista pre-installed on the laptop?
If not, did you try to install the drivers for Vista for the Marvell Yukon Lan?
It might help to post the exact make and model of your laptop.

Yes! Vista came pre-installed, and apparently says that drivers are up-to-date.
The laptop is " Dell Inspiron 1525."
There has to be some tweak for this issue, 'cause I've already encountered several forums on the Web discussing the same issue.
