A few things I would like to know about Win2k

A few things that bug me which make the Win2k experience seem a little weak: 1. How can I manually set the cache limit. I mean in an EXACT size though. Not the large system cache on or off thing. This is probably not possible, but it would be nice.

How to CLEAN install Nvidia Drivers in W2K

A lot of peoples problems with TNT cards in W2K has to do with the fact that you must Reinstall Windows 2000 then the drivers, or clean install the drivers. But what exactly is the best way to do this? Here's how I do it.

ok, i've got a couple of problems. one in the device manager irq steering is disabled and miniport is not found. i have a gigabyte 7ix mobo, had almost the same problem with win98 and found out i had to install using the /pj switch for acpi.

The new beta bios for the BE6 is downloaded in a. bo1 file doesn't it need to be a. bin file? Also where do you boot to run the award. exe, last time I flashed it with Win98 I was able to boot to dos but no more dos in Win2k.

lexmark3200 hack-what am I doing wrong?

The first time I did it, I was able to print a test page, but after rebooting I receive the spoolsv. exe error and the printer no longer worked. I deleted all the drivers and files from the installation and re-installed and it still does not work.

Has anyone gotten D3D or full-motion video in a window to function under the new Asus 3. 79 beta drivers under Win2k? Also, has anyone noticed extremely long load times for OpenGl games? I think the texture memory located in the cards is being inefficiently used as it seems to take forever to get into half-life or ...

A3d, need help with Q3s no sound when in a3d problem.

Has anyone found a fix for the q3 a3d no player sound problem (ther is background sound, just not sound of your player. ) Also when i start up wiindows or when i am runningh win amp the sound it all scratchy and glitchy, i have a goood computer, so it is not that it is slow.

I havn't been able to get this scanner to work under W2K following this sites recommendations on booting the computer up with the scanner power on. Any one else have any sugs? Also, Does the Vista scan 3.

Moving to a larger Hardisk

In Win9x if I wanted to quickly move to a larger hardisk: I could just boot under the old drive to Win 9x. Open an MS DOS prompt and xcopy x:\*. * z: /h /e /r /c /k /y. Unhook the old drive, boot to a floppy, set the new drive as Active.

Strange UDMA story - need help

Hi all drive experts! Here is the prob: W2k sits on the first partition of my drive C:\ which is a seagate UDMA 33 6 gigs divided into 4x1. 5 gig partitions. This drive is hooked to ide 0, channel 1.

3Com USB Network Adapter Drivers

I just spotted this at (an excellent site for usb information): they have drivers for a Peracom USB Ethernet adapter. This device looks IDENTICAL to the 3com usb ethernet adapter and uses the same chipset from KLI.

A computer I'm working on reports the following in the Event Logs: wmi The description for Event ID ( 54 ) in Source ( WMI ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer.

3.66 only working Win2k Geforce driver ...

I tried all Nvidia beta drivers - the latest drivers that run stable (no lockups on desktop) are 3. 66 beta with Powerstrip force 1x agp. Everything else (tried 3. 69, 3. 72, 3. 75 and 3. 76) lock up randomly on the Win2k desktop - and in Everquest.

My Lexmark 3200 series jetprinter is not getting used because of the lack of drivers from lexmark. Does anyone know when the drivers will be out? Or. . . . . it will never come out?\ This sucks!!.
