Access Denied to Add/Remove

Odd - when I first set up a new User with Admin properties they can access Add/Remove Programs and Hardware etc. Then suddenly when I try to remove a program I get: This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions placed on this computer.

I can't seem to get Diskeeper 5. 03 to install. It says it will run on w2k in the readme, yet on install it says it will not. Also in the OS. dat there is not listing for Win2k. Any idea how to install this?.

DVD-ROM / CD-R/RW Problems

I suspect this may have been covered already, but I couldn't find a relevant post Neither my DVD-ROM nor my CD-R/RW drives 'know' when they've been opened and new media is placed inside, even from empty to a 'real' disc.

Under W2k i have got the feeling that Netscape is very unstable and terrible slow. When I was working under NT, NS was my (by far) preferred browser - now it´s almost impossible to use it (I tried it under all releases and with fresh setups).

What about using real proxy application? I jsut tested fe myself and your good free choice is proxy+ which has been easy to setup and supports socks 4&5 Or you might want something fancier than that with WinProxy 3.

First of all, I want to say thanks to all the guys that set me straight about Win2k. . i LOVE it now. . I need a little help though. . i made a boo-boo. . Under CONTROL PANEL->SYSTEM->ADVANCED->ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES, I lost the TWO fields that went into User variables for administrator.

The point of Win2k is?

Is there really any GOOD reason to upgrade to win2k??? Games, suck, drivers are scarce and most of them are hacks, and I even read on ZDnet that Win2k is faster than Windows nt4. 0 workstation only on a system with 32mb ram.

Real Player 7 and TNT

I have had problems with Real Player 7 for a long time now. Basicly what happens is that when I am playing some movies it puts my monitor in hybernate mode and I can't recover. It has done this since Real Player was in beta.

DOS cd Bug in W2000 ?

Uhm, I am stupid or didn´t w2000 support longer directory names which starts with a ! ? If I make a dir like !this-is-a-test than I am not able to change into with the command cd or chdir ??? I know that you can with a $ char hide directorys but what makes now the ! ?? Any suggest would be great.

Changing Drive Letter (CD-ROM)?

Hi, I'd like to know if it's possible to change the drive letter for CDROM (even hard drive)? I can do it with NT 4. 0 by running the Disk Admin (I think the name is right), but I can't find a similar utility in NT 2000.

Simulating a Win NT/9x environment

Is there any other way (Other then apcompat. exe) of making a program that I'm about to run think it's Windows NT or Win9x I'm trying to run a program (which worked both under NT and 98 before), but now it crashes everytime I enter ANYTHING other than 0.
