Running a program as a service?

I run Seti@home on my machine, but it's a security risk leaving my machine logged on (gotta keep my bro's friends off). To my understanding, a service will run regardless of if anyone's logged on. Is there a way to set it up so that Seti, or any program, can run as a service?.

Best Virtual Memory Paging Size ???

HI, Whats the best virtual memory paging size, as I have 128 meg Ram adn its set at 192 and this does not seem enough as get errors when I open some applications i. e Word97. Scott.

Win2000 install help

Hey guys, I need some help installing 2000 Pro. Currently I have WinME, and it works great. I placed the 2000 cd in, said no to the upgrade or my curret OS, and went for the clean duel boot option. Well, it starts up fine, allowing me to choose from WinME, and Win2000 setup.

Troubles Logging Off

Most of the time i cannot log off my Win2000 machine. If i goto start/shutdown/log off and click ok it just goes back to windows normally. If anyone can help me?.

Keep getting "Locked Page" BSOD?

Since I switched over to Duron/KT7 Combo, I randomly get Locked Page BSODs. What is causing it? I'm pretty sure its not the ocing, I'm running 600 @ 900. Because when I switch it to 850, it still does the same thing.

Hi, everybody. Can´t start Cinemaster 2000, the first screnn telling Cinemaster is initialing DVD playback is hanging. Tried it from a fresh Installation (with SP1) - the same. ASUS CUBX, CUSL2 all the same.

WinME File zip/unzip in Win2K

For anyone that's wwanted to be able to ZIP or UNZIP files just like in WinME or Win98+Plus, DosFreak has done it! In his own words. . . This program will allow you to use Compressed Folders in Windows 2000 just like in Windows ME.

Hauppauge WinNT card with severe pic problems!

Please!!! i got a wintv card. . . and after i installed newest drivers and wintv2000 application. . . when i start the program the picture is small and its OK. . . but when i resize the window when there is movment on the picture the whole picture gets scrambled.

Memory useage with Word 97 Problems??

Hi, Having a few memory problems with Win2k. Basically have a AMD450 Mhz with 128 SDRAM system. I have constantly running in my sys tray McAfees Virus scan, memturbo, sound, and stay connected. But when I load up Word 97, after a couple of seconds it says I do not have enough conventional memory.

Has any one taken a look at PR3? I must say they have really gotten the look down! Very sharp! Most of the major bugs seem to be gone, although I can't install Quicktime plug-ins or scroll with my mouse wheel for some odd reason.

BIG media player 7 probs

I installed media player 7 last night then when I reset after the instalation my pc didn't boot up again (locks up at win2k screen just over half way) luckily I had win98 installed on a dif partition and I installed win2k over that.

alright, let me try to ask something without being flamed. . . this guy I know wants to dual boot WinME and Win2000, but everytime he tries to install Win2000 as a clean install, it says Setup cannot determine your version of Windows.

I have IE 5. 5 installed on win2k and when I click on some links that usualy have pop up windows it doesn't do anything and I can't print cos of some script eror. anyone know how to fix it ?.

NTFS to FAT32 !!!

I want to convert my NTFS partition to a FAT32 i am running win2k and i cant find anything that will do this without erasing all of my data. I know about Partition Magic but I am having a very big problem with partition magic in win 2k.

How do I put every service to its default? I dont know what happened, but I put every service to automatic, just to look more into what the services really do. Any way, now I cant put them back to manual, it goes half the way and then nothing.

My System Properties shows: System: Windows 2000 5. 00. 2195 Service Pack 1, RC 1. 1 What would the RC1. 1 be???? The only beta MS software I have is IE high Security Beta. . would that be it?.
