I recently upgraded to w2K, and for the most part I'm happy. . . but my favorite game. . . The Sims. . . has sound problems. I have an Aureal Vortex 2 card and recently got the reference drivers, hoping they would alleviate the problems.

Halflife in W2K Adv. Server - No go with my V3 3500

Well. . . here's the drill. Installed Half-Life and tried to start the game. Asked for the CD Key, then basically just died without an error or anything. Just never started. Tried installing the latest patch from the Internet twice, but there was a corrupted file error both times.

After losing a hard disk I recently had to reinstall Win2k. All went well, or so it seemed. I was using the 3. 81 Detonators previously and everything was okay. After the reinstall I used the 3. 81 drivers, but if I tried to change resolutions in any openGL program (from the default 640x480) the program would crash.

I have a scsi drive with 2 partitions. . . windows 98 on the 1st active and win2k on the second and using win2k's integrated boot manager. now I want to ghost my win2k partition to an ide drive blow out the scsi repartition it one large volume and blast win2k on it.

I've got a GeForce DDR installed on my windows 2000 professional setup, however, when I run Quake II, it defaults to 60fps (60Hz) - I have tried PowerStrip, but that's completely screwed my display. Does anyone know of any programs to alter the refresh rate (85Hz if pos) in win2k / geforce?.

Quake2 + Win2k + Geforce = Game Crash ?

I have the 3. 81 Nvidia drivers and while UT and Q3 run very smooth and stable, Quake 2 will crash and exit to the desktop after about 10 or so mins of play. I still play Q2 mods extensively so this is a real bummer.

HOW BIG SHOULD THE SWAP FILE BE ??

i have a p3 500 with 384 mb of ram. even with that much ram w2000 makes a swap file sized 550 mb !!!! do i need a file that big or can/should i make it smaller ???? under nt4 i used the programm superdisk to create a virtual swap drive of 100 mb in ram is this also possible under w2000 ??.

Ok, so DX7. 0a does not exist for WIN2K. I am still stuck with a stick (Thrustmaster top gun, game ported) that only partially works buttons that cancel each other out and a pov that the system will no recognize.

hi again i have a 3com USR message modem and i noticed ever since yesterday (31st march) download speeds were as low as above 200 bytes/s it would start very fast like 9kb then drop a lot. max i have had is 500b/s and as u can tell i am not pleased! port speeds in ctrl panel are at its highest.

DVD in Win2k causes lockup

I have Windows 2000 Pro installed. everything works except my DVD-ROM. it's a DRDVD840. . . (Digital Research) when ever go to use the drive for anything it causes an entire system crash. . . It's slave on my secondary UDMA/66 controller.
