For Games: XP Home vs XP Professional

Has anyone tested performance for games between the Home version and the Professional version? All I hear is that the difference between the two is the ability to join domains (and associated tasks).

Win 2K Dial up networking

I upgraded a win2K pro pc to SP2 and now dialup networking does not allow me to send e-mails. I have checked the microsoft KB and found Q298896 refers to my problem but I cannot get the updated files to resolve.

Total Annihilation - TCP/IP play - Windows 2000- help!

My friend and I want to play Total Annihilation (version 3. 1c, boneyards version, with Core Contingency and Battle Tactics installed) online using the TCP/IP protocol. . we are both using Windows 2000, Service Pack 2, Directx 8.

Intellimouse explorer cuts out under XP

Since I have installed WinXP Pro my intellimouse explorer 3. 0, which is connected through USB, cuts out. Games, desktop, surfing, the mouse will stop responding and I have to physically unplug the mouse then plug it in again to make it work.

3Dfx Voodoo III 2000 pci not working at all with Windows XP!

I have Windows XP and a 3Dfx Voodoo III 2000 PCI The 3d worked fine when I installed xp I could run Spider-man and wolf 3d with no probs. . . then I run x-setup and I enabled overclock for voodooo 3 and I couldn't get any game working again spider-man will return to desktop and Wolf 3d says in the console that v3vgl.

Dail-up and LAN at the sametime

is there anyway to route ip packets so some go through a dailup and some to go through the LAN. here is the situation. i got a t1 connection through the office LAN. but its got a firewall so i cant use icq or napster or messanger.

Ok, i was helping my mate build a new system. We Installed WinXP (like i've done on many systems before). After the installation we tried to reboot. When rebooting we got an error saying cannot find ntldr.

Stop ERROR IRQL_NOT_EQUAL........

When I lauch programs once in awhile I get a stop ERROR and then a memory dump I am running XP 2600 and it only does it if I havent run the APP for alittle period of time, but after the dump and restart, I can run the program just fine? Any thoughts

What games work with 32bit display only?

I'm running FireGL 2 video card that does not except 16 bit games or settings. The only games so far that I've tested lately have been SOF Gold, Return to Castle Wolf Demo, and Serious Sam. Has anybody else with the same problem got others to work??.

Ok! guyz every version of windows and internet explorer does this. Everytime i click on internet explorer or a i do open in new window IE comes up not maximized and i have to maximize it. . . ARRRGGGHHH! Anyway of getting it to automatically maximize? Thanx very much, - 1.

CDrom drives: Gone.

I'm having some serious problems. Ever since a few days ago, my CDrom drives have become unrecognized in windows. Apparently their drivers cannot start because they are corrupted. I have two CDrom drives, a philips CDRW804 drive and a samsung 8x DVD drive.

Sound Issues

When playing mp3s in Winamp, when there is the smallest bit of disk activity, the playback stutters, not too much but it is noticable. It did not do this with ME but when I upgraded to XP, the problem was noticed.

TCP IP based printing in Win 9x and NT4

There is a fantastic feature in Windows 2000 where u can set an IP on a jet direct box on a HP Printer and then print directly to it without the need to create a queue on Netware or NT Server, which we use here in the University to manager our printing needs.

Pentium 3 850 reads as 692 in XP on a Vaio - HELP

I have a sony Vaio FX190, Loaded XP pro Runs great but noticed that the SYSTEM reports the P3-850 as 692. Interesting. . . the speed step is 70/850 so not sure where its getting that number. Went into bios and set it for MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE and no change.
