Ok, I have cable internet shared through my computer, with 4 computers on the network (all running XP pro). We seem to be having DNS issues with the clients on my network. . . . The computers can all ping and browse by IP just fine.

Heh. . Does anyone know if its safe to put tinsel on a monitor? Every peep is doing it at our place of work, and me being in the IT Dept, have been asked this very question. I don't believe it is very safe, but all I am getting back is BAH! Humbug.

HELP! How to password-protect shares

Hi, i've searched for entries to this topic, but didn't find any. How can i set a username and a password for a certain share without enabling the guest-account, so that, if a win98-computer accesses my XP-Computer, a mask with username and password is openened.

system hangs, Nvidia geforce 2mx,

my sytem hangs a few seconds into these games: half life, diablo 2, and max payne just put in Geforce Nvidia 2mx. Put in newest drivers from nvidia's web page. Game hangs a few seconds into game. Must reset computer to get out of it.

Add/Remove Programs

How would I FORCE an application that didn't install right to get out of the Add/Remove Programs thing? I uninstalled a game and now I cannot reinstall it because it keeps asking me to uninstall it when I try to install it and obviously the uninstaller isn't working correctly.

System Error (102)????

I keep getting this every time I reboot. I keep sending the report int too. But when I go into event viewer, then to the MS Website to see what this error means, it always says Sorry, can not answer this.

excesive floppy disk seek

Whenever I run RTCP or Quake 3 or run some app the system scans my floppy disk! before I disable my floppy drive is there a workaround fot this??? My sistem windows XP pro PIII 866 512 mb ram SBLIVE latest xp drivers Winfast titanium TI gforce 2 latest detonator drivers maxtor 40gb HDD

XP ERROR 31 on a 98se box

Hey, I have a Home network wiht dsl and a Netgear RT314, I just got win xp pro, and i set that other comp can view it but whne i go to access my xp box from the 98 box, i get error code 31. wtf is with that?.

Caching-only DNS Server

I have a Win2k Server machine that shares my internet connection with 2 clients using Sygate. I want to setup a caching-only DNS server on my win2k box so that I can speed up DNS lookups. I install dns and tried to follow the directions in the help screen, but they didn't work.

Quake3 Lag

Have installed xp everythings running fine, but when i play q3 online i'm gettin mouse lag (delays in turning etc) i have a microsoft optical mouse, with the latest xp drivers,i have had to go back to winme for just now without any probs.
