Linksys Wireless Probelms

Hello everyone, here is my situation. . . I am using a Linksys Access Point attached to a Win2K machine and 2 Linksys wireless PC cards on 2 WinXP laptops. My problem is that the connection between the laptops and the Access Point keeps dropping.

Defrag Doesn't Do Anything

Hey All, Got a 40 Gig drive thats about 45 to 50 % free and when I Defrag, upon completion it tells me that some files cannot be moved. The problem is when I load up Defrag again it analyzes my drive and tells me that I should Defrag the drive that just took 3 hrs to complete.

Problems with CD-ROM

I'm haeing problems with my cd-rom TEAC 40X 540E. . . and a LITE ON RW 1610s. . . the reason is that when ever i put in a (ANY) cd in the Teac cd-rom it won't work just won't even start. . . but it works perfectly fine in Win 98 and in CDR-RW.

Network XP -> 2K Slow in one direction

2K -> XP is fine, but transfers from XP to 2K are at about 2k/s! Any ideas? im just using TCP/IP and Client for MS networks. Ive tried setting up an Ftp on the XP machine, and transfers to the 2K machine are the same.

Windows 2000 network really slow

I have a Windows 2000 machine on my network that hosts an Internet connection using ICS. The problem is that file transfers, or anything else for that matter are really slow going from another machine to the Windows 2000 one.

Greetings, I've recently upgraded from NT 4. 0 to w2k Pro and i'm experiencing some problems with my cd writer. It's a HP 8250i and despite everybody says that it is compatible with w2k the drive letter doesn't appear and the software says that there aren't any compatible devices on my system.

Hi, I have a Maxtor 7200 ATA 66 30GB HDD. I'm just wondering why the drive feels so slow! And how can I speed it up? Sometimes, when I launch a program (eg. Internet Explorer), the LED light will come on, but I don't hear the hard drive moving.

Setting up W2KS as a Domain Controller

Hi, My W2KS is not currently set up as a Domain Controller as it is used in a Peer-to-Peer Network. But I need to move up to configuring my LAN to use it as a Domain Controller. What is the easiest way to convert my W2KServer as a Domain Controller? I understand that there is a command line prompt to do the same.

USB problems with KT266a chipset

I just got a new computer: AMD 1700+, Gigabyte motherboard with KT266a chipset, Windows XP. The problem is that USB mice do not work properly. Both mice that I tried (Logitech) work just fine on my old computer but on the new computer cursor movement is very jerky as if the sampling or refresh rate is very slow.

Dear All, This applies to BOTH Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Is there any way to password-protect shared files/folders?? For example, say I want to share my CD Drive as cdrom yet I want ONLY a specifc user to have access to it through his/her username and password.

Hey guys. . . I screwed up a upgrade to ArgoSoft Mail Server, and now I can't get anything to work. When I try to launch the newer version, I get an error message saying that the service is disabled.
