CD spinup problems

Hiya all I've been having a real shitty problem with XP. Everytime I put a CD in my drive, it just spins and spins for ages. I have to eject it and close the draw, then it works fine. This used to happen sometimes on 2k, but it would BSOD if I'd open the door.

This is the 3rd time that I've had this problem in the last couple of years, each time in a different O/S (98, ME & W2k). I've had this happen in IE5 and IE6. After just getting started, any and all downloads just stop, regardless of file size or website.

Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-103 + working software?

Hello, I have the Pioneer DVD burner, but CDRWin - does not see the burner, although Golden hawk says it should Fireburner - errors with any cue sheets, that work fine with an HP burner i have Nero - XP problems installing Adaptec i know works, but i burn alot of bin/cue's, so this does not help.

I just installed. NET Enterprise Beta 3 on a test server. It is configured with 8 processors and 32 gigs of RAM. I can see it during start up and when I open the System Information in Windows, it sees all the physical memory.

Does anyone know how to make the icons near the clock high colour like on Windows ME and Windows XP. On Windows 2000 they seem to be in 16 colours. Any registry entry to fix this. Ash.

machine keeps rebooting under WinXP

Folks. . . Please help me. My machine keeps rebooting on its own every hour or so whether I am working on it or not. Evidently this is making me quite P. O-ed. Would anyone suggest what might be causing it and what course of action I should take? Thanks in advance.

I'm using Norton Ghost 6. 03 that came as bundled software and trying to make a backup, if anybody out there is kind enough to tell me how to do it, i'd appreciate it. Only have one physical drive with 3 partitions c: & d: are NTFS and e: is FAT32, I guess I should have the backup in e: partiton.

Hi! I have problems running Master Of Magic under Windows 2000. I ran the programm with VDMSound. Intro goes fine but after it I get an 'insufficient conventionnal memory' error message even if I specify 600 ou 640KB in PIF file.

hey. . . Whenever the computer boots,after the bios screen shows up and my hard disks and my cd rom are detected (for 5 second or less), there is a long pause of 10 to 15 seconds and only then the hard disk is accessed and the OS starts to load.

Hello everybody. . . Under windows XP, I usually receive the known message IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ! It mostly arrive when I am listening mp3's with winamp, after 5 minutes. It sometimes arrives during games or others applications, too.
