How do I share folders on a LAN?

Ok, I've tried to get this to work but apparently it's much harder than in win98. I wanna share a folder on my local network. Anyone should be able access it using a password. Anyone know how to do it? In win98 all you had to do was to mark the folder, click sharing and enter a password.

Have you tried reading the windows help files?? Often a great place to start!

First of all, you have to get your head around user permissions. Right click my computer and select manage. then click local users and groups/users. You can either add the win98 users login and pass in here, or you can simple enable the guest account.

Once you've saved that, go to the folder/drive whatever and select properties. There is a sharing tab there, you can't miss it!

Hi,

what you have to do is go to the folder properties then on the tab "sharing" select share this folder and set the permissions with the "permissions". If you want anyone on your LAN to access make sure to enable the Guest account which is disabled by default.

Hope this helps ..
