NVIDIA shipped Game Ready Driver 617.14, a WHQL-certified build for Windows 10 and 11. It adds optimized support for CONTROL Resonant, Gears of War: E-Day, The Witcher 3 Remastered, and AION 2, many leaning on path tracing, RTX Mega Geometry, and DLSS. The 990.85 MB update also patches launch failures in Judgement and Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. plus display issues on the Samsung Odyssey G95NC and DisplayPort sleep problems tied to earlier R615 drivers. Gamers planning to play any of those four titles or working through the listed bugs should grab it from NVIDIA's driver page or GeForce Experience.

NVIDIA Ships Game Ready Driver 617.14 Ahead of CONTROL Resonant, Gears of War: E-Day, and The Witcher 3 Remastered

NVIDIA rolled out Game Ready Driver 617.14 today. It's the newest WHQL-certified update for Windows 10 and 11, and it landed right in front of a pile of graphics-heavy fall releases that will push GeForce RTX cards harder than they have in months.

NVIDIA describes the build as being "for the latest new games supporting DLSS and RTX technologies." Four titles headline the list: CONTROL Resonant, Gears of War: E-Day, The Witcher 3 Remastered, and AION 2. Two of them ship within ten days.

Game Ready Drivers are NVIDIA's gaming channel, distinct from Studio Drivers aimed at creative work. They get tuned and tested ahead of big launches, and the WHQL stamp means it passed Microsoft's compatibility checks. That's the build you want unless you're intentionally chasing betas.

The download sits at 990.85 MB. On paper that's a chunk. Modern GPU drivers now bundle the graphics kernel, the ray-tracing and DLSS runtimes, NVIDIA App integration, and support spanning multiple generations of cards. So the size makes sense.

Four titles, one driver

CONTROL Resonant arrives September 24. Remedy's action-RPG sequel to the 2019 original runs on the Northlight Engine and leans into melee combat plus open-ended exploration of a warped Manhattan. NVIDIA's toolkit is front and center here: full path tracing, RTX Mega Geometry, and DLSS 4.5 at launch. RTX Mega Geometry trims VRAM overhead when ray tracing against dense geometry, a technique Remedy first deployed in Alan Wake 2.

Gears of War: E-Day ships October 6. Set on Emergence Day, it's a prequel built with Unreal Engine 5 and one of the first games to ship MegaLights alongside hardware ray tracing. NVIDIA partnered directly with The Coalition on PC optimization, bringing RTX Mega Geometry and Advanced Shader Delivery to eliminate startup stutter. The targets are 60 FPS with ray tracing in campaign and up to 120 in multiplayer.

The Witcher 3 Remastered comes September 29, and it's a free upgrade for anyone who owned the original. Over 65 million copies moved back in the day, which means a massive install base suddenly running a fancier build on GeForce hardware. A current driver keeps it running smoothly.

AION 2 rounds out the list. The MMO follow-up to NC Company's 2008 Aion already went worldwide in September, after a South Korea soft launch. NVIDIA still added support ahead of the wider push.

The bug fixes are the part people usually skip

The bug fixes are the part most people scroll past, and honestly they're the more useful part here.

617.14 patches a handful of issues from earlier 6xx drivers. Judgement, Lost Judgement, and Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. could fail to launch after moving to 616.56, per ticket #6681537. That's now resolved.

The display problems are the more painful ones. The Samsung Odyssey G95NC showed no picture over HDMI after updating to R615 drivers, ticket #6771206. Certain monitors also failed to wake from sleep over DisplayPort, ticket #6757568.

Both issues trace back to the R615 branch. So 617.14 is also cleaning up regressions that recent updates introduced. If your expensive monitor has been playing games with you after a driver install, this build probably sorts it out.

So who should update? If you plan to play any of the four titles, the answer is yes. If you're hitting the display or launch bugs above, update immediately. For everyone else it's a judgment call, since not every driver update is a must-have.

The timing, though, is textbook. NVIDIA ships the driver first, then the games follow. Releasing September 22 covers you for CONTROL Resonant three days out and everything through Gears of War: E-Day on October 6.

NVIDIA co-engineering the RTX experience straight from early development is worth a second glance. It's the difference between a ray-traced game that actually works on launch day and one that ships half-baked. Head here to grab it. NVIDIA's driver page will find the right build for your GPU and OS, or GeForce Experience and the NVIDIA App can do the work for you. The single WHQL build runs on both Windows 10 and 11, keeping older systems supported while still targeting the latest OS.
