hm, since ive been hacking/tweaking my machine as much as i could, and im also curious as how to my machine compares to others id like to compare q3 fps in timedemo four. dm_66 in q3 1. 30. ive got 310 fps, and about 390 when i disable my fortissimo 2 in devicemanager.

When my PIII 733 doesn't cut the mustard anymore, I think I'll get one of those Tyan Tiger MP boards and run dual Athlon MP's. They should be up around 2Ghz by then.

File sharing is a pain in the *** in xp, can anyone help?

I got 2 computers in a small network, both are running windows xp. Simple file sharing is ticked off on both machines. on each machine there is a harddrive that is shared, default is everyone has acces, and i leave it that way.

I want to install a program as a service under XP. With 2000, I used FireDeamon to install Bullet FTPserver as a service, but this program no longer works. I also tried copying an existing service and editing the parameters, but no succes.

Hi, I'm having *MAJOR* issues getting AC to run. This is without the expansion and with the fourth patch for the game. I can play for a few minutes, but sometime (it's highly variable) the whole thing freezes hard.

windows xp see my sony crx-1600L burner as a normal cd-rom! i cant burn cds! help me! sony are being themselfs and saying they dont support XP, so im pretty screwed. i believe that it is because windows does load my drivers for the cd burner so it just loads standard cd-rom drivers.

Anybody figured out how to get this old dos game to work under NT4 Workstation? I've never tried running any old dos games under NT and have found the properties option for the MS dos based applications but no matter what settings of EMS, XMS etc I use.

3dfx Misunderstandings And Drivers Workaround

The drive work around listed on Ansible's site does work very well. I have tested it with 3 systems using 3dfx video cards. However the quotation supplied which originates from is not only inflammitory, but grossly incorrect.

I have the CT4620 card and am very annoyed about the drivers situation, i decided to try the drivers for the Sound Blaster Live! / Value (CT483x, CT478x)card and they have installed fine so far, and seem to be working, though it only installed 2 applications as far as i can tell Hope this helps someone.

I've been aware that Via has problems (you don't say. . . ) and some viscious opponents. Via's Apollo Pro 133/A is crap against the BX. Really? Let's see, at the time Intel offered two new chipsets for the Pentium III: the 810 and the 820.

My friend has a problem. Whenever he tries to setup Win2k on a clean partition, about half way through, it errors (cant find file ddraw. dll ect) Does anyone know why he's getting these errors???? Many thanks in advance.

I think XP works quite nice. Except that I got these problems: Memory leaks: Games crashes sometimes and it seems to happen due to some memory leak. Like the one that happen i NFS: Porsche Unleashed(explained under GAMES compability on this site).
