svchost.exe tries to access Internet

Hello. I've been using XP for about a month now. There's one thing I'd like to know. . . again. Whenever I boot up XP the Norton Internet Security alarms that svchost is trying to access the internet which I always let it not.

You know the little speaker in the system tray by the clock. . . Can this be opened with an. exe file or something ? The reason for this is that I'm trying to move it to a toolbar. Also, can it be changed to control Wave/DirectSound rather that the master volume ?.

Error running Close Combat III on Windows 2000

Get error message Can't access surface for lock. This happens when clicking next to load the game after making infantry selections. It when the game starts to load the maps, if that makes sense. At least that is what I think it is doing.

Hi all. . Im having a annoying problem with need for speed 5 porche unleashed under windows 2000. . it just wont work. i try to start the game, fine, it starts, i come to the splash screen but then, my computer begins to think, ALOT.

Just to let you know that Return to castle Wolfenstein is by far the best game I've ever played in my life since I own a PC. Every gamers should go buy it. I give a score of 10 out of 10 for the graphics(yep, GeForce owners will hallucinate) and another one of 10 for the gameplay.

I got an hardware sense error every time I try to copy a CD, even if it isn't protected, so i must be due tu Win2k. . . i found on this site something like try to download aspi drivers, but i don't know what it is.

what do you think of Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 BETA RC 3. 51? If any1 out there has it I think it rocks no reason to go to windows xp. . . . i went back to win2k cause i just love it. . . all my games work In windows xp some games never worked.

I don't get this one. I install it, then after the reboot, my rig never seems to finish it's startup in Windows. I can't do anything in normal mode, and I can't uninstall it from within safemode. The Imperial Star Destroyer is in trouble here.

Using Windows XP Professional: Is there a simple way to setup permissions and user access? Perhaps the same way as Win2k? Is it possible to share a folder, allowing access to various network users but not the entire network? I have not been able to find this functionality in WinXP.

CDRWin problem

OK, got a problem here. Burner works under XP (built-in burning software works, fireburner works), but when an audio cd is burned under CDRWin, I stick it in my cd player and get nothing but static. I tried to see if this was a problem with the mp3 encoder by converting the mp3 to wav, still nothing doing.
