I have been trying to help out a friend install win2k final professional and he keeps getting this problem. It installs fine but when he trys to boot into it it gets past the boot screen and almost to the login screen but the monitor just goes blank.

i thought i should be a little more specific in the topic. . . My specific problem is in Half-Life (but happens in other games too). I get the right framerates, but i get enormous amount's of 'tearing'.

Crossover Cat5 cable for 10-baseT NIC?

I have try to connect W2K machie with w95 machine using crossover cable (i. e. direct connection of NIC withour using a hub) it seems the NIC and its associated protocol(IPX/SPX) works fine(my RTS6029AS is W2K certified though), but without any packet receiving from the other machine.

CDRW disappeared!

I had my Yamaha 4416S working fine for serveral moths under win2k, then I installed C++ and rebooted an dthe drive diapeared! Windows says it can't find it and I know it's working because I can see it during the boot sequence.

CD Writers, UDMA and PIO modes

Hi, I'd like to know which mode recent CD writers are using. According to the BIOS, my HP 8100i is using PIO 3 mode and my DVD player, an AOpen 6/32, is using UDMA. Both are on the second IDE controller, the first one being used for my HDs.

Is this possible, I have the stupid 7200 RPM/UDMA 66 hard drive runnin on the old IDE Chain and I can't find a driver to get it working on UDMA/66. Is there and update or a reg hack that'll get this working.

Does anyone have any drivers or know where i can get some for the Diamond Stealth III S540 that uses the S3 Savage4 chipset to work in windows 2000 with opengl? I seem to have found some for display drivers but they dont seem to include icd opengl stuff.

i've followed the liveware 3 installation instructions, and it seemed to work ok except that i get corrupted audio output. the best way i can describe it is the output buffer not being filled up fast enough, so it makes a skipping sound.

Hey what's up guys, just a quick question: I have a 6. 4Gb IDE HD, a Acer 32x IDE CDROM drive, and a Mitsumi CDR. In win98/se you can enable the DMA for these drives, and i believe I had them enabled.

I can't run Illustrator. Is there's any special trouble between Win2k and Illustrator or NTFS and Illustrator ? In compatibily list, it is said that everythings is OK but each time I launch Illustrator, it says : Illustrator can not run.
