Red Light on tower / Harddrive Activation ?

as soon as i boot into windows 2000 and after its all booted up and ready to go noticed the red light on my case blinks ever 2 seconds and i can hear the hard drive when the light blinks, it wont stop doing this to i do something or open something??? i have p3 600eb, abit be62, 128mb, more info can be found out at

I just bought the 1200cu usb scanner, and i can't reach the $!!$& ftp. mustek. com. tw does anyone have a mirror of those 'web. exe' 'web. 002'. . . files? i really want to scan now thanks a lot.

No Standy with Tekram DC-395UW Controller :(

Hello Windows always tells that the driver for the Tekram-Controller prevents the Standby Mode , the same with hibernate. Does somebody know if there is a chance to make the Standby work with this Controller ? thanks Jens.

Win2k will not shut down.

Has anyone had the problem of winows 2000 not shutting down? I originaly had no problem with this, and now all of a sudden when i shut down or restart it closes everything disconnects and just hangs with nothing but my default background color.

binding 2 connections....

Hi Im getting free dsl next month and I would like to bind it with my cable modem so they are like one modem in win2k. Kind of like a load sharing thing. Anybody got any ideas on how to do that? They dsl will probobly be a static ip # but the cable modem is dhcp.

I have Win2k Pro and have two NIC's installed, neither of which are sharing IRQs or anything. The one NIC is hooked to my cable modem and works perfect. The other NIC is plugged into a hub, and from the hub it goes to a laptop, and then to another machine.

ALi Alladin V + W2K + AGP Video card = Which card works?

Ok, so we all are kicking ourselves for not researching the Alladin V chipset before buying. . . . I own a Asus P5A with this chipset and currently run a PCI video setup (Voodoo2). This won't work in Win2000 but I'd like to upgrade.

I have read on hardware section HP Scanjet 3300C works under Win2000. It says only installing with the. inf file. I have did it, but with no result. The driver appears correctly, but the compatible twain application to scan don't works.

It detects the thing, but you don't get any of the special support without loading the MS software. Of course, I load the MS software, and all of a sudden my computer takes 5 minutes to shutdown instead of 10 seconds.

W2K installation problems....

I was running W2K 2195 for 2 months. . then i decided to format and reinstall just to clean things up. . . After which i was unable to install w2k on the freshly formatted drive. . I used w2k's boot disk and everytime after the fourth disk i get a hard drive corrupt error.

I have been experimenting with different drivers for my Linksys nic (lne100tx). After fooling around I have reinstalled the original built-in driver that comes with win2k a few times. In device manager it is listed something like LNE100TX Fast Ethernet #4.

Soundblaster PCI128 recording problem

I am using Windows 2000 Pro with a soundblaster PCI128. The problem is that when I try to record in Stereo (sample rate doesn't matter) the result is two identical channels. When I move the balance from mixer the channels are showing the same level all the time.

Confusing hard disk-NT installation problem

Posted this at anandtech but haven't found the solution yet. Gotta IBM Deskstar ata66 7200 rpm 13. 5GB hard disk. Installed it on Abit BP6 in the ata66 socket. Installed 95b. Worked fine. Then I installed the ata66 drivers and it still worked fine.

Has anyone installed Win2K on an IBM ThinkPad 600 series? I'll be getting one with Win98 and am wondering if I'm taking too much of a chance by installing Win2K at the outset. Tony.

I installed Win2K on my IBM ThinkPad 600X, and I have to take back most of the bad things I've said about Win2K. Installation was flawless. Only problem was with the sound not working. With some research I found that I could get sound working by a little trick turn off mute.

Having problems on NT4 with display resolutions

I have a V3 and whenever I try to change or test resolutions on NT4 (matching my graphics card's and my monitor's refresh rates) I get a blank screen (black actually) and the OS stops responding and I have to reboot.
