CD-r for laptop

Hi, I have a latop and I want to buy a CD-r and run Windows 2000. I know my computer can run Windows 2000, so thats not a problem! I just wanted to know if anyone have any experince with a CD-r that uses USB to connect to the computer and Windows 2000? Or maybe the HP CD-Writer Plus M820e.

ARGH, this is driving me nutz OK, I was lucky to get me a Creative Annihilator Pro today at my local CompUSA. Installation worked like a charm, no problems (running RC2). Next I tried to switch back to my normal 1600x1200 (on my 21 Viewsonic PT813) and tried to get refresh to 85Hz.

i dont know/care if someone has posted a fix for this (not going to search for it) but i have it working with the final. what i did was install the hollywood alpha drivers (got the choppy crap) then i installed the Creative NT drivers on top of hollywood.

I have the following problem: I installed win2k RC2 build 2128 on a Quantum 13,6 KA Gb and the drivers for the ATA66 controllers (HIGHPOINT) and I update the bios for the BP6 (NJ) & ATA controller (1,21) changed the boot sequence into: EXT,C,A (EXT-means UDMA66) but windows is still comming with the message: NTLDR ...

Win2k + TNT1 + D3D Problems

I have the newest release of Win2k and am having problems running D3D. I downloaded the 3. 65 drivers and running them now. I fired up UT and it runs fine but any other game that I've tried so far to run in D3D won't work (Speed Demons, Rogue Squadron, Supreme Snowboarding, etc.

I just installed ms windows2000pro and It works just fine. . i mean i have a sb live! and 3dfx voodoo 3 3000 and windows installed somekinda drivers for both of them so i can have a kick ass resolution and hear sounds.

Ok. . . Running Win2k now. . . but when I run DXDiag I get an error during Hardware D3D test. Direct3D test results: Failure at step 18 (CreateDevice): HRESULT = 0x80004002 (No interface) Do I have to install new drivers? Thanks.

Joystick disappears as non administrator user

Win2k 2195 professional. . . I install my joystick under Administrator (M$ sidewinder auto detect) but when u log is as my normal non-admin user it doesnt appear in game controller setup. Any idea how to get round this?.

The subject speaks for itself. . being in the brink of a clean w2k install, i'd like to know if these are 'working', as in quad speakers work/smp support, etc. . . Ofcourse I have a nagging feeling these are just the WDM sblive drivers from rc2.

When I was under Win98, I was using shared folder. Those folder were on Unix computer and shared with SMB. Win98 is crypting pwd so I had to add a DWORD in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VNETSUP named EnablePlainTextPassword with 1 as data to uncrypt them before sending them.

USR 56k Winmodem- anyone get it to work

i have gotten mine to work with different drivers, but it will only connect at 31. 2 and below. I need to find drivers that will work correctly with it. If you can help, please do. The drivers i have state that the device is working properly but when i try to open the modem it says it cannot open the device.

OK, here's a solve that might work for you: Method 1: In the Device Manager, check the installed device under 'Computer'. Ten to one that it's installed as 'Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC'.
